Evaluation of planting distances of vitroplants of clone CT-115 in certified seed production

Authors

Abstract

The investigation was carried out in the period from March 5th to September 5th, 2022, in areas of the basic seed bank of the province of Cienfuegos and Villa Clara, located in the municipality of Palmira, province of Cienfuegos. To carry out the study, Pennisetum purpureum cv. Cuba CT-115, which were planted in different planting frames, using row spacings of 1, 0.80, and 0.60 m combined with interplant spacings of 0.60, 0.40, and 0.20 m. The results achieved in the experiment demonstrated that the optimal distance for planting Vitro plants destined for "seed banks" was at distances of 0.60 m between plants and a distance between furrows of 1.00 m, as this is the area in which the best results are obtained in the agricultural performance variables (height, weight, and diameter). The results achieved will allow the planting of CT-115 Vitro plants in the “seed banks” at the optimal distance, to obtain high-quality seeds.
