Influencia del incremento de la biodiversidad agrícola en la sostenibilidad de una finca cafetalera del macizo Guamuhaya.

Resumen

En la finca estatal cafetalera de montaña “La Perla”, ubicada en La Chispa, Cumanayagua, Cienfuegos, atendida por el Órgano de atención al desarrollo integral de las montañas, con el objetivo de evaluar el incremento de la biodiversidad agrícola y la influencia sobre su sostenibilidad,se realizó la presente investigación,en el período 1999 a 2008. Para ello se determinó la biodiversidad agrícola existente, se evaluaron los indicadores ecológicos, económicos y sociales asociados con la biodiversidad agrícola y se analizó la influencia del cambio en estos indicadores sobre la sostenibilidad de la finca. Los resultados del presente trabajo indican que en el período evaluado, se incrementa la riqueza vegetal (+36), la diversidad (+0,72), la equitatividad (+0,1) y disminuye la dominancia (-0,09) y en los animales, la riqueza se duplica, se incrementan la diversidad (+0,17) y la equitatividad (+0,05), mientras disminuye la dominancia (- 0,31). Con el incremento de la biodiversidad agrícola, aumenta la cobertura vegetal del suelo, el rendimiento agrícola, el valor de la producción total y principal (café), la capacidad de generar empleos, se eleva la producción de alimentos para el autoabastecimiento familiar. El aumento de la biodiversidad agrícola tiene efecto directo en el incremento de la sostenibilidad en las dimensiones ecológica, económica y social, con respecto al valor óptimo para el contexto local.

Abstract

This research was developed in the mountain coffee state farm “La Perla” located in “La Chispa”, Cumanayagua, Cienfuegos, which is assisted by the Organ of attention to the integral development of the mountains. The objective of the research is to evaluate the increase of agricultural biodiversity and the influence on its sustainability from 1999 to 2008. To do so, the existent agricultural biodiversity, the ecological, economic and social indicators associated with the agricultural biodiversity were evaluated, and the influence of the change was analyzed in these indicators for sustainability in the farm. The results of the present work indicate that in the evaluated period, the vegetable wealth (+36), the diversity (+0,72), the equality (+0,1) are increased, and the dominance diminishes (-0,09). In animals, on the other hand, the wealth is duplicated, and there is an increase the diversity (+0,17) and the equality (+0,05), while dominance diminishes (- 0,31). With the increase of the agricultural biodiversity, the vegetable covering of soil, the agricultural yield, the value of the total and main production (coffee), and the capacity to generate employments, the food productions for the family own supply increases . The increase of the agricultural biodiversity has a direct effect on the increase of sustainability in the ecological, economic and social dimensions, with regard to the optimum value for the local context.
