General procedure for the economic valuation of agricultural experiments

Abstract

The university as a center of higher education is responsible for the training of professionals and research, active in sectors such as agriculture in the search for solutions to improve productive yields and pest control, thereby contributing to agricultural transformation. In agricultural experiments, several parameters are evaluated to select the treatments with the greatest impact on production. It is necessary to establish quantified parameters of the economic result of the research that make it possible to base the selection criteria on the experiments. The present work aims to propose a general procedure to carry out the economic valuation of agricultural experiments; and thereby respond to how to assess the result of an experiment and what indices or parameters to use to select the best treatment. This procedure has been used and perfected in previous research, and is presented in this paper to economically assess the "Use of pesticides of botanical origin as an alternative in pest management in stored corn grains", and obtain the parameter or economic indicator Cost of protected grain and analyze the trend of the behavior of this cost by treatments with respect to control treatment.
