Authors

Abstract

The implementation of the Law on Food Sovereignty and Security and Nutritional Education in Cuba suggests new ways for various social actors to act and participate; universities and Science, Technology, and Innovation Entities (STI) play a key role in supporting the development of the productive sector. This project proposes to contribute to the sustainable production of food as a contribution to food security at the University of Matanzas through actions that promote the participation and social responsibility of students, professors, and researchers. Productive scenarios on campus are identified, along with their potential, limitations, and needs, in order to develop actions that contribute to their transformation. This transformation will be achieved by enhancing sustainable food production through training, technical assistance, and the introduction of scientific findings and sustainable technologies based on agroecology. This report aims to present the results achieved in the first year of the project.
