Abstract

The municipality of Cumanayagua is involved in the production of fruit trees as part of the National Urban Agriculture Program. The objective of the work was to evaluate the conservation of fruit tree diversity in urban and suburban areas of the municipality. To do this, an inventory of fruit tree species was carried out and diversity indices were determined. The work was carried out on five reference Farms during the period of January/2021-August/2022 (Maripa, Los Elementos, El Marañón, El Porvenir and La Vigilia). 3,713 plants distributed across the five Farms were quantified. There was a record of 53 species and 25 botanical families, with greater representation in Rutaceae with 8 species, Annonaceae and Sapotaceae with 4 species respectively. Dominance was low in all the Farmers, except in La Vigilia, which was medium. The latter was the farm with the highest species richness and El Marañón the lowest. Hymenaeacourbaril L. was located in the category Least Concern (CL), within the Red List of Cuban Vascular Flora. As a result of the survey, species with a single individual were listed, representing 28.2% of the total species. The results achieved contribute to the development of the Local Fruit Tree Program.
