Abstract

ABSTRACT

Environmental conservation and its application through public policies is an essential requirement for economic growth to translate into sustainable development. However, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA) procedures are important instruments of preventive environmental policies. The neglect of ecosystems and their economic activities has important implications that range from the disappearance of species to the indiscriminate consumption of natural resources. To address this issue, this research proposes a system of indicators aimed at measuring the impact of economic activities on the environmental situation in mountain ecosystems. To this end, the theoretical and methodological foundations that support the proposal of indicators for economic activities and environmental damage to mountain ecosystems are systematized. Among the methods used, the historical-logical, the analytical-synthetic, the inductive-deductive and the Delphi method stand out.
