Uso de ácido salicílico como atenuador de los daños causados por el estrés salino en plantas de maíz

Resumen

El cambio climático afecta cada vez más los cultivos debido a la generación de estreses abióticos y entre esos estreses, la salinidad viene afectando cada vez la productividad especialmente en cultivos irrigados. El maíz al ser un cereal ampliamente cultivado en el mundo se ve afectada su producción en hasta 20% por la salinidad, de esa se busca alternativas que ayuden a mantener la productividad de los cultivos sobre condiciones adversas. El ácido salicílico (AS) en este caso se presenta como una alternativa viable para mitigar los daños generados por la salinidad. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo fue comprobar si la aplicación foliar de AS en plantas de maíz no estadio V6 podría mitigar los efectos de la salinidad sobre el estado nutricional de la planta, así como del índice de color verde. Para esto se llevó a cabo un experimento en esquema factorial 2 x 2, siendo el primer factor con y sin aplicación de AS (0,5 y 0 ml L-1), y como segundo factor con y sin estrés salino (600 y 0 mM ClNa). Los resultados nos indicaron que hubo una mejora parcial en el índice de color verde de las plantas, así como una mayor absorción de nutrientes en plantas sobre estrés con aplicación de AS, mientras que en las plantas sin AS el estrés salino afecto estas variables, comprobando la hipótesis de que en estado vegetativo el AS actuaría como un atenuante de los daños generados por la salinidad.
