ABSTRACT

 The results of the study of the incidence and severity of shoot rickets in two agroecosystems of the Ciudad Caracas sugar mill are presented. The Transpiration Staining method was used for its detection, as well as losses in agricultural yield were determined. The disease was present in all the fields surveyed with greater intensity in La Lima and significant differences between varieties and increase with the number of harvests. It is necessary to expand prospecting and assume a greater perception of risk since losses can reach from 39.6% to 55.1%.
