La dimensión ambiental en la enseñanza de las ciencias naturales en la Educación Básica

Resumen

La Educación Ambiental es parte de la solución de los problemas que confronta el medio ambiente, sin embargo, en su ejecución a través de la enseñanza de las Ciencias Naturales aún confronta falencias, aspecto que motivó este estudio con el objetivo de caracterizar la implementación de la dimensión ambiental en la enseñanza básica de las instituciones escolares de la ciudad de Machala. La estrategia metodológica se sistematizó a través de los métodos :análisis documental, observación científica, análisis-síntesis y estadístico, que permitieron concluir que los docentes tienen dominio de los contenidos y existe una adecuada labor educativa en función de la protección del medio ambiente; sin embargo se aprecia insuficiente conocimiento por parte de los docentes y estudiantes de los fundamentales problemas ambientales que afectan directamente e indirectamente al centro escolar y a la comunidad; la comprensión del medio ambiente se circunscribe a elementos físicos, químicos y biológicos de la Naturaleza, no se tienen en cuenta aspectos sociales, culturales y axiológicos, entre otros.

ABSTRACT

Environmental Education is part of the solution of the problems confronting the environment, however, in its execution through the teaching of Natural Sciences, it still confronts flaws, aspect that motivated this study with the objective of characterizing the implementation of the environmental dimension in basic education of school institutions in the city of Machala. The methodological strategy was systematized through the methods: documentary analysis, scientific observation, analysis-synthesis and statistics, which allowed concluding that teachers have mastery of the contents and there is an adequate educational work in terms of protecting the environment; however, there is insufficient knowledge on the part of teachers and students of the fundamental environmental problems that directly and indirectly, affect the school and the community. The understanding of the environment is limited to physical, chemical and biological elements of Nature, not taking into account social, cultural and axiological aspects, among others.
