Abstract The work had as objective to update information about the different uses of Azospirillum in the agriculture. It is verified that these bacterias are very versatile, capable to establish symbiotic and mutualism relationships with the plants and other microorganisms. They are nutritionally variable, with effects over the atmospheric nitrogen fixation, phytohormons production, minerals and nutrients solubilización for plants. They also have influence on the increment of the volume of the root and they induce resistance to pathogens. They can serve as food to the micro and macro fauna in which nutrients are always insufficient, and they are capable to increase the yield of agriculture crops and they can be used as biological control, thus, its potentialities for using in agriculture are proved. Keywords: Bacterias, plants, nitrogen fixation, symbiosis, mutualism.
